Airfield & Runway Construction
Our experienced Airfields Team have carried out numerous airfield surfacing contracts and can tackle everything from installation of service ducts and airfield ground lighting, to pavement quality concrete and design and laying of heavy duty Marshall asphalt.
We have constructed main runways, taxiways and hard-standings, from groundworks and earthworks to surfacing. We have also introduced innovative surfacing, such as the 0/10mm Maxphalte® stone mastic asphalt thin layer laid at St Angelo Airfield.
We can provide and operate mobile asphalt mixing plant capable of mixing any grade of coated material to the required specification. Our laying crews are highly experienced in laying materials to the exacting standards required on airfields. We have the capability to design and test Marshall asphalt in-house.
Our main quality control laboratory at Croaghan is in the process of achieving UKAS accreditation to ISO 17025, the standard regarding competence of both testing and calibration. Our mobile lab used on airfield contracts will also be UKAS accredited. Accredited tests and procedures will include sampling and testing of aggregates and coated materials, Marshall asphalt design and testing and operation of a nuclear density gauge and rolling straight edge.
Our Special Products team are also experienced in the provision of special surfacings on airfields, such as standard and coarse textured slurry seal, Promak® fuel-resistant slurry seal, concrete repair systems and white lining.
